2025 Motor Show & Results
WOW! What a year!!!
The 47th Annual Motor Show and Swap Meet planning started off this year on the back of a standard - albeit slightly quiet - 2025 Motor Show and Swap meet due to the reduced capacity because of wet grounds. So based on this we started planning for a similar number of entrants and spectators.
Club member and Motorbike fanatic John Baron put it to a meeting to get a quote for Jack Field's Flair Action Sports trail bike stunts and Harley Stunts as an additional attraction this year and I believe it paid off. The team's impressive feats added to the atmosphere and the Come & Try bikes kept the kiddies amused.
The Swap Sites were almost a sell-out and many a browser came up to the office to ask where the nearest ATM was to restock their purchasing pockets.
The Motor Show Entrants saw their biggest nominations - 143 in total - which is impressive considering we barely made 100 entrants last year. With the new Online Nomination form, the process was much faster and added with the EFTPOS facilities made check-in smoother. We encourage all entrants to nominate via the form next year - the form will close Thursday 3rd June.
We saw the return of a lot more Motorbikes this year and the addition of Dirt Bike as a category. Its great to see but do apologize for the cold ride up on Sunday morning - one entrant could barely write he was still shivering!
The trucks were an impressive addition this year and a lot of comments that it was great to see this different type of vehicle being displayed. They definitely made an impression in the Supercruise.
The Observation Rally was run and won by a non-local entrant Rick Torrisi, proving you don't have to be a local to do well in this competition. Once again we are not responsible for any potential divorces that may take place in the direct aftermath of the run!
The Go To Whoa was hotly contested this year with an impressive 42 entrants running through for their 3 runs. Local Chris Tozier was Top Qualifier and headed the 10 to the finals. Unfortunately the Willy's Coupe was a late scratching but the closely contested competition was won by another local lad Seth Matthews who nailed his last run to take out top place. Usual suspect Chris Paterson came in 2nd.
Saturday night we once again hosted an off-site dinner at the Historic Civic Club with a 2-course Buffet Meal. Ticket sales were a little slow to start but once they got going we ended up with 38 people attending. At the last minute, Aaron the Motor Show Coordinator (and probably 2nd or 3rd in line for biggest Trivia Tragic behind Judge Matt Gilkes) wrote and MC'd a trivia Quiz combining Automotive, General Knowledge., Movies and Riddles. Congrats to the Bannah/Stibbs team for their narrow win.
Sunday numbers were still impressive this year and for something a little different (and no allow people who have to travel further an earlier start) we ran the Sunday Cruise after Trophy Presentations. A massive thanks to Penrite, W Titley & Co and Meguiar's for their impressive donations of prizes to the winners.
Willy Parker returned for the first time in almost 20 years after being a Feature Car with his beautiful 1957 Chevy and took out a lot of the top gongs - and lots of trips up and down the Grandstand stairs to collect the.m. Judge Matt Gilkes awarded him the Top Judged Car of Show.
The Supreme Entrant award was started years ago to award those with well-restored and/or maintained vehicles to participate in the driving events. Supreme Entrant this year went to a brand new and locally-built 1934 Ford Coupe owned by Chris Ives. Anyone who knows Chris is impressed by his drive to have restored multiple vehicles and this latest project is very impressive and shouldn't have been as much as surprise as it was for taking out Supreme Entrant.
Many thanks to our entrants, swappers, Vendors and supply partners for their ongoing support and look forward to seeing you all next year.
(Remember to pre-enter for the event!)
